Can you guess what the big buzz is lately for network marketers? Social Networking! I will explain why but let’s take a quick look at how it started. At first there was MySpace and Facebook, two huge social networking giants. Network Marketers have joined them in order to market their opportunities through these sites. It is a great way for that extra free exposure even though the members of the networks aren’t entirely targeted.

However, the value of marketing on Myspace and Facebook is quickly dropping. This is due to the massive release of new and niche focused social networks. The fact is that this year alone I have seen an increasing number of professional social networks geared towards network marketers launching and becoming increasingly popular. To name a few: TalkMoola.com, Zenzuu, Friendswin, Yuwie, and Wowzza. A couple older ones are DirectMatches, AdLandPro, and even Ryze. Honestly I wouldn’t even be the least bit surprised to see a few more start-up this year - that is how much it is catching on! It is also obvious why they do become so popular among network marketers, because there is no better advertising than targeted advertising. Exposing your business opportunity, system, or product to other network marketers is simply the most effective thing to do. Once a network marketer joins you they already have had their foot in the door and are somewhat knowledgeable about the industry and can greatly help your business. However if a random person from MySpace sees and joins your business they are not nearly as valuable to you because they most likely have no idea what they are doing or what network marketing is even about.

So when network marketers are invited with the ability to join a social network full of network marketers it is almost a no-brainer. Just to clarify why I said “almost”… It is because not all network marketers have caught on to the power of social networking yet or how to properly use social networking to explode their businesses. But the ability to further expose themselves and their business to other like-minded people is extremely valuable and profitable for most. The old way of network marketing is out, and I see the future holding tight to social marketing through professional social networks. Even so, many of these new business social networks are offering incentives for those who join. These range from revenue sharing, direct affiliate commissions, and various MLM pay plans. Through this supporting these new business social networks they will experience the increased awareness and exposure that they deserve.

All professional social networks, however, are not created equal. Here are a few things you need to look out for when deciding which ones you will utilize in exposing yourself and your opportunities. Read the rest of this entry »

A few days ago, Dreamhost just burried it reputation alive by billing (probably) ALL ther customers with sums up to $9,000. Whoever had an active credit card on dreamhost.com actually was charged, or rather — overcharged. I managed to bypass the auto bill because my account was bound to paypal, and except for getting the email below no damaged happened.

This is just a notice that your DreamHost Account #****28
(”Liza’s Account”) has a balance of $112.40 (including any charges not
due until 2009-01-29), with $112.40 due (since 2008-12-29).

You also have $112.40 past due (owed since 2008-11-29), and if
by 2009-01-29 you do not pay at least the $112.40 part, your
account will be automatically suspended until payment is received.
If you would like to CLOSE your account with DreamHost, just visit:

https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=billing.accounts

Log in if you need to, then click the “close this account” link. If you close
your account you won’t be charged $112.40 on 2009-01-29… please stay!

| NOTE: Any account with any charges 60 days past due is considered
| delinquent and will have service discontinued until payment is made,
| so it is very important for you to make your payment as soon as you
| can. In order to help prevent a service outage, we will send you
| periodic reminders until payment is made.

WHAT DO YOU OWE MONEY FOR?
We have the last payment on this account to be $7.00 on 2008-01-15 00:32:13.
Since then the following charges have been made to the account:

2008-11-29 - $119.40 for “My Crazy Domain Insane” through 2009-11-28.

For full information on your previous balance please visit your account
invoice, which you may view from the web panel, here:

https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=billing.invoice

FYI, THESE ATTEMPTS TO REBILL YOUR CREDIT CARD(S) FAILED

Amount: $112.40
Credit card: *5008 (ex 08/07)
‘08/07′ has already passed!

Basically I didn’t panic because I knew my account is paid up until next year and it could be nothing but error, but today I noticed that practically every place online is covering the event and this is because it was not just an email notification sent out by mistake, but people have had big sums deducted from their accounts.

It’s been on Digg, and it’s been on LunarPages blog . The comments on DreamHost offical blog are worth reading — those who had been overcharged are furious, those who just had an email notification (like myself) are saying it was no big deal.  Well, it makes sense.

Bottom line — Dreamhost might face a lawsuit and possibly be charged, Class Action seems to be raging and a new popular term has appeared in Google. People are complaining for being overdrafted and their banks charging them extra fees. Fixing the damage will takes longer than it took to bill the entire customers list (that was done in 12 hours only! And we, customers, can’t send more than 200 emails per hour!). I hope DH won’t get charges, because that would mean they might close down and I need to move all my 40+ databases. Oh please, don’t sue DreamHost!

google.PNG No matter how you hate Google, this company is still, and forever will be, busy trying to diversify into every possible hole on the internet, especially if it brings big green. After trying to set up their domination in the mobile phone software industry, it’s now time for television to bow low to the big G.

Google is working with Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., one of the largest consumer electronics manufacturers, to commercialize flat panel television sets that let you access online videos. Instead of relying on Apple to encourage users to buy a set top in order to get YouTube on their TVs, Google’s going straight for the TV manufacturer, and straight to th consumer.

Sounds cool? Not really. Google’s first deal with a Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer is predicted to be available in U.S. stores this spring, and while this is somewhat a big step for TV, consumer media and YouTube, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen efforts to bring web media to our home television. Several companies out there, from Apple to Dish Network to Netflix are hoping to provide more direct ways in which to get their content onto your television screen, thanks to Internet-connected set top boxes.

Bottom line is that soon everything is going to be connected to the computer and one day Google might replace the need in settelite and digital broadcasting. Will they? Maybe, but for sure no where in the near future.

After the recent announcement that Bebo will be allowing developers to port their Facebook applications over, as well as the current buzz around DataPortability, this strategy could be a lot easier to pursue than it looked a few months ago, when each social network was busy building their own independent platform.

Mark Pincus, the founder of Zynga is shocking us all again when his company that makes popular games including Texas Hold ‘Em and Blackjack for Facebook, has raised an impressive sum of $10 million in venture capital. This was reported earlier this week by The New York Times and I guess these are the kind of financial rumors we can trust. Currently, the company’s games represent over 10 million installs on Facebook alone, with more than 700k daily active users. I should think having such a nice traffic that none of us, the mortals, can’t even dream about, could indeed result in a good pocket money.

At present Zynga chose to focus on Facebook with its “Hold ‘Em” game, showing more than 400k active users (only?), while the company’s goal in the long run is to build games that work across multiple social networks. We will see!

facebook Its seems like Facebook is not moving away from the negative billboards and blogger’s headlines recently. Now again, another bad news from this great social networking web.
Yet another security hole has been detected by a user of the mobile site for Facebook. The security hole is rather disturbing actually, because no matter what level of privacy you have set on your email address (in your profile settings), it is visible on the contacts page (for example, on a Windows Mobile device).

This security bug has been detected very recently and I believe is no problem to rectify once the Facebook security team gets their hands on it, but until then, it’s free-for-all on stalking your exes.
