Our Review of Boscia Natural B.B. Cream with SPF 27

As a big Boscia fan, I was excited to try out their B.B. cream. Unfortunately, it didn’t work at all with my fair skin. It was rather obvious that I was wearing it, and it looked like I had on an orange-y foundation. Hopefully Boscia will add more shades as I would love to use this in a color that works with my skin tone. I liked that it didn’t leave a shiny or oily feel to my skin, wasn’t heavy, and didn’t have much of a scent. This BB cream is soothing for sensitive skin and it worked well as a treatment. Unlike other BB creams, this one is wonderful for skin that has yellow undertones. However because the texture of the product is creamy it is difficult to get it to “set” on oilier skin so that you can apply foundation over it. I find it difficult to blend into my skin so that it looks consistent and doesn’t create a filmy layer on the skin’s surface.

I first heard about BB creams when I stumbled upon some products on this website, and from the name I figured they were for people with blemishes/oily skin and didn’t even consider trying them. Then I discovered “blemish balm” was actually meant to disguise imperfections, not pimples, and it seemed like a cool concept.

This was the first one I tried. A Sephora associate helped me decide between this and the Clinque BB cream she said the Boscia brand had a dewier finish, while the Clinique was more matte. I tried the two together in the store and Clinique seemed sit on top of my skin while this blended in invisibly.

Pro’s – it is VERY moisturizing but at the end of the day my skin appears a bit oily, and I have very dry skin to start with, but I do use a few dabs of moisturizer underneath so the product will go on easily. I don’t find it that hard to blend with fingers but a little goes a long way and it is easy to overdue. I didn’t find the sparkles a problem at all – you can hardly see them in fact.

I was really liking this product for covering the redness in my face until I noticed that in some lighting situations my face and neck look a different color, a problem I run into a lot with tinted moisturizers (I never use foundation) which is why I don’t like to wear any kind of makeup.

This even passed a ‘test’ with a good friend of mine who notices every single time I try a new beauty product for my hair or skin. The first time she saw me when I had it on – and I never mentioned a word about it – she was standing close to me and said “your skin is beautiful today, and young looking!”

After that I thought I better keep this product, but after a week of use I notice now I am getting breakouts and I am definitely shiny at the end of the day, so I am interested in switching to the Clinique and seeing how that works. All in all a great concept, but I recommend this only for drier skins. It only comes in one shade and the Clinque comes in two, so this will not work for all skin tones.
