Check out the IKEA Stockholm Range

IKEA is many people’s go to place for furniture, soft furnishings and accessories. Functional, contemporary style is something that every home, in my opinion, needs. Contemporary style is all about a calm, stress free (and beautiful) environment you can escape to at the end of a long day.

My Perfect Hallway Mirror

To help complete my own home, I’ve been searching for the right mirror for a while now. Finding one that’s the right shape, size and something that fits my style has been a struggle. So, I am delighted to have taken the plunge and bought the Stockholm Mirror from IKEA.

Every hallway needs a mirror. Mirrors open up the space, which is especially helpful in a small space like a hallway. It’s also very helpful to be able to just double check the hair or touch up your make up if your rushing out the door most days (like me!)

A testament to true Scandinavian contemporary style, IKEA mirrors are varied in shape, size and finish, but they are always great quality. The Stockholm range has always been a favourite of mine. After all, who doesn’t love Nordic or Scandi style with a warm wooden finish. The range is seamless and slender, with simple shapes and subtle form.

The Stockholm Mirror is an understated accessory and perfectly matches many different home interiors. You could put this mirror up in a minimalist home or even a vintage chic home. Its simplicity lends itself to completing any room in a really subtle way. Placing this mirror in a hallway, above a sideboard creates an effortless look, timeless look. This mirror has also been tried and tested in the bathroom.

­The Stockholm mirror is made from moulded beech plywood, walnut veneer, clear lacquer and glass and has a diameter of 82cm and a depth of 11cm. Walnut Veneer is a naturally durable, hardwearing material, with the addition of a protective lacquer coating, so I feel confident that the mirror will stand the test of time and be a worthwhile investment. The Mirror costs a very reasonable £60.

The walnut frame depth also acts as a handy shelf with makeup, earphones or car keys, perfect for those rushing out the door moments.

Stockholm Rug

The Stockholm Range has lots of contemporary pieces, all designed to naturally fit in a modern home. This helps it flow and feel complete. I love this Patterned Yellow Flatwoven Rug. This rug is hand-woven by skilled craftsman, and made with soil-resistant wool. Combined with its flat surface, this rug is easily maintained.

Another great aspect of this rug is that its double sided with the same pattern. So, when you feel one side it’s getting a bit worn you can simply flip it over and it’ll look like new!

IKEA is of course great for its modern, convenient furniture, but I love it the most for its decorative accessories. In my opinion, not only is IKEA on trend but they are always forward thinking when it comes to combining style and function. This is what makes a house a home.
