I love storage solutions for my home that serve a dual purpose. Storage boxes, for example, that have another dimension to them like a padded lid that means they can be used a stool or a spare chair when you have guests.
I wasn’t actually looking for more storage. However, I was browsing in Habitat a couple of weeks ago when I spotted their Jacobs teal fabric upholstered storage bench. It was love at first sight and I simply had to buy it!
Teal is in this Season
Teal has been hailed as one of this season’s current must-have colours. This storage bench is the perfect example of why it is such a popular colour. The seat is smartly upholstered with a good-sized foam padded cushion and a nice curve to the edges. The short simple legs are made of solid oak which complements the teal perfectly. It’s just a really versatile piece of furniture and would fit in in quite a few rooms in the house. I think I will probably keep it in my lounge, which is where I have currently placed it. But, it would work well as an ottoman at the end of a bed. Alternatively, if you have a large hallway it would work really well as a seat next to your shoe rack.
Delivery and Assembly
I decided to order my storage bench online and have it delivered to my home. Sometimes it’s just easier to have things delivered than trying to get them home yourself. The website says to allow two weeks for delivery. It did take that long to arrive but that wasn’t a problem. There was a little assembly required; the legs needed screwing on but this only took a couple of minutes. Then the bench was ready for me to find it a space in my home.
The fully assembled bench is 110cm long and 44cm high. So, it is a good size with plenty of storage space inside, and at 23kg it’s very sturdy. The information on the website says that it is a good idea to vacuum or brush the upholstery on a weekly basis to help keep it looking as new as possible. Any spills should be professionally cleaned though having been blotted as soon as possible to remove any excess liquids.
The bench is currently priced at £180 on the website which is 20% off the normal price of £225, this is a well-made piece of furniture with a good amount of storage space which I do feel justifies its price tag. I love the versatility of the bench which means that although I currently have it stored in my lounge I might just feel the need to move it to another room where I feel it would fit in just as well.
Oh, and for those people who really are not fond of the colour Teal the gorgeous Jacobs fabric upholstered storage bench also comes in Charcoal, Grey and Saffron Yellow.
